Middle students in geography bee

    Fifth-grade students at the Caribou Middle School recently participated in a U.S. Geography Bee.

    Brian Corbin, left and Ricky Perry, fifth-grade students from Room 112 at the Caribou Middle School, were the winning team of the school’s 2008 Fifth-Grade Geography Bee.

   Jola Hebert, grade five social studies teacher and coordinator of the geography bee said, “The contestants proved themselves to be very knowledgeable about facts regarding U.S. geography. They were not allowed to use a map, yet they answered questions such as which state is south of Nebraska, east of Colorado, west of Missouri and north of Oklahoma?
    “The audience was quite impressed when all teams correctly answered, Kansas,” she added.
    Students Brian Corbin and Ricky Perry from Room 112 captured first place in the 2008 Fifth-Grade Geography Bee.
    Second place winners were Katie Pelletier and Gavin Levesque from Room 110.
    Room 109’s Alex Michaud and Larry Spencer tied for third place with Room 111’s Connor Shaw and Kristen Macek.
    Team 113’s Austin Griffeth and Justin Boyer placed fourth.
