Jewell receives master degree

Image    Alicia Jewell, 2001 graduate of Houlton High School and daughter of Eugene and Carol Jewell, of Houlton, received her master of arts degree in speech-language pathology from the University of Maine at Orono in May 10. As an undergraduate, Alicia earned dean’s list honors every semester and graduated summa com laude with a 3.8 GPA. She was inducted into both Phi Kappa Phi and Golden Key Honor Societies. As a graduate student, she earned a 3.9 GPA and completed medical-based speech placements at both Eastern Maine Medical Center and the Maine Veteran’s Home. In addition to her degree, Alicia was selected as the Outstanding Graduate Student in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders for 2008. The award is based upon academic achievement, leadership and generosity as a department citizen. Alicia is currently employed as a Speech-Language Pathologist for Rehab Care at Ross Manor Rehabilitation Facility in Bangor.
