Free American Red Cross disaster training offered

    ISLAND FALLS — The Aroostook County Branch of the American Red Cross-Pine Tree Chapter is sponsoring basic no-cost disaster training on Saturday, July 19 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Island Falls Town Office, 68 Houlton Road in Island Falls. A continental breakfast and afternoon snacks will be served.
    In response to the many individuals in Southern Aroostook interested in learning more about disaster preparedness, two courses will be offered: Fulfilling Our Mission in the morning, Red Cross Community Services in the afternoon.  
    Individuals will learn about emergency preparedness regarding how to open a shelter, mass care feeding, disaster response, and other basic information to help support communities in the event of a disaster such as flood, winter storm, ice storm, or man-made disaster.

    The Pine Tree Chapter of the American Red Cross serves northern, central, and eastern Maine with fire and disaster relief, Armed Forces Emergency, community preparedness, and health and safety training services.
