Chase, Smallwood shoot low gross, net scores
The Upper St. John Valley Seniors held their second tournament of the summer season on June 25 at VaJoWa Golf Club in Island Falls, with 64 players.
Chet Chase and Jon Smallwood defended their home course, as Chase shot an 81 for low gross, while Smallwood tallied a 67 for low net.
In Division I gross winners were: Chase, VaJoWa, 81; Gary Greene and Jud Giberson, Covered Bridge, 83 and 88, respectively. Net, Dan Hotham, Presque Isle, 76; Greg Douglas, VaJoWa, 77 and Peter Curley, Covered Bridge, 80.
Division II gross winners were: Jenness Gushee, VaJoWa, 83; Ronald Opthof, Limestone, 88 and Fred Putnam, Houlton, 91. Net, Bruce Fitzpatrick, Caribou, 79; Blair Keirstead, Woodstock, 80 and Ed Quinlan, VaJoWa, 81.
Division III gross winners were: Smallwood, VaJoWa, 82; Bob Lewandowski, Presque Isle, 92 and Darrell Anderson, Covered Bridge, 93. Net, Donald Hanning, Limestone, 73; Wilson Patterson, Covered Bridge, 76 and Rellon Powers, Houlton, 79.
Division IV gross winners were: Bert Daniels, Houlton, 90; Terry Duffy, VaJoWa, 91 and Roy Derrick, Woodstock, 96. Net, Howard Kirkpatrick, Covered Bridge, 72; Jeff Everett, Caribou, 73 and Glen Flewelling, Woodstock, 79.
Division V gross winners were: Paul Turner, Mars Hill, 91; David King, Limestone, 99 and Blake Buck, Portage, 101. Net, Clifford Boaz, Limestone, 76; Jack Webb, VaJoWa, 76 and Herb Williamson, Presque Isle, 80.
Division VI gross winners were: Peter White, Mars Hill, 106; Steve Haywood, Covered Bridge, 109 and Paul Johnson, Fort Kent, 110. Net, Gordon Somerville, Portage, 78; Gilbert Albert, Fort Kent, 79 and Vinal McPherson, Presque Isle, 80.
