Council approves Consent Agenda items

   PRESQUE ISLE – City Council concluded its spring sessions approving a number of Consent Agenda items during its June 2 and June 16 meetings.
   The June 2 session saw all seven councilors present, giving their approval to:
• City Council meeting minutes of May 19; • 2008 warrants totaling $681,783.14;
• Public Works Department 2008 paving bid to Trombley Industries, Limestone, at  contractor’s hauled, machine place price of $75.93 per ton;
• Public Works Department 2008 chip-sealing bid to Aroostook Asphalt Applicators, Inc., in the amount of $2.75 per gallon;
• Public Works Department 2008 road surfacing reclaiming bid to Aroostook Asphalt Applicators, Inc., Presque Isle, in the amount of $1.45 square yard plus $2.45 per gallon of asphalt applied;
• Public Works Department 2008 cold planing bid to Lane Construction Corp., in the amount of $1.45 per square yard;
• Authorization of Public Works Director Gerry James to negotiate with Sealcoating, Inc., for crack-sealing services not to exceed $40,000, as no bids were received for crack sealing; and
• The airport runway striping equipment bid to Franklin Paint Company, Franklin, Mass., for an amount not to exceed $55,000, with funding from H.E. Sargent Company, of Old Town, for completion of the airport paving striping under Airport Improvement Project 26.
   Councilors voted 7-0 in favor of the June 2 items.
   At the June 16 meeting, all councilors were present except Ron McPherson. They approved another lengthy list of consent agenda items, including:
• City Council meeting minutes of June 2;
• 2008 warrants numbers 22 and 23 totaling $479,383.23;
• Pole location permit application for Maine Public Service Company located on Parsons St.;
• Maine School Administration District 1, return of votes cast on June 10;
• Malt, spirituous and vinous liquor license application for the Mai Tai, Inc., 449 Main St. – hearing waived;
• Malt, spirituous and vinous liquor license application for the Presque Isle Inn and Convention Center, 116 Main St. – hearing waived;
• Award of additional hardware bid for the Forum fire alarm system to Suburban Electric to include engineering project costs;
• Award cell phone bid to U.S. Cellular at a base monthly amount of $569.99;
• Written departmental reports for May 2008; and
• Correct typographical error on June 2 for airport striping equipment bid to Franklin Paint Company, from $55,000 to $55,500.
