Houlton – Mary "Malee" M. Putnam, 89, died June 10, 2008, at a local hospital. She was born January 13, 1919 at Houlton, the daughter of James and Doris (Waterall) Madigan.
Malee was a member of Saint Mary of the Visitation Church, the Houlton Council of Catholic Women, Houlton Regional Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and a long time member of the Houlton Community Golf Course. Malee was very involved with Visiting Nurses of Aroostook and served as a Board Member.
She is survived by two sons, Fred Putnam and his wife Catherine, Albert Putnam and his wife Nancy all of New Limerick; one daughter, Sarah Howland and her husband Jeff of Houlton; twelve grandchildren; ten great- grandchildren; one brother, Albert Madigan of Anapolis, MD; two sisters, Lucia O’Brien of Acton, MA and Ann Madigan of Portland; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert Putnam and three brothers, John, James and William Madigan.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday at Saint Mary of the Visitation Church with Rev. Ron LaBarre celebrant. A time of fellowship followed at the Parish Center. Interment took place in the Houlton Evergreen Cemetery.
