PRESQUE ISLE – With summer just around the corner, U.S. Cellular is participating in the Annual Hooked on Fishing Not on Drugs Event at Mantle Lake Park in Presque Isle.       U.S. Cellular associates will offer instruction on how to access wireless AMBER Alerts, an initiative that allows wireless subscribers to receive AMBER Alerts as free text messages on their cell phones. Associates also will encourage individuals to adopt some wireless rules of the road; show young children how to dial 9-1-1 on a cell phone with the company’s Cellular Stars program; and will discuss with individuals how to keep lines of communication open during severe storms this summer. U.S. Cellular engineers will also be on hand with a Cell On Light Truck, a mobile cell site used in times of emergency or for anticipated high-volume events.
Local fire, police and forestry services, along with the Elks Hypertension/Diabetes Testing Unit, will also be on hand.
The event will take place Saturday, May 31, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mantle Lake Park in Presque Isle.
