Limestone/MSSM softball rounding mid-season play with pristine record

    LIMESTONE – Fort Fairfield softball’s six-run effort in the final inning wasn’t enough to break Limestone’s undefeated streak last Saturday at the Eagle field. Limestone posted the 20-16 victory.

    Eagle Melanie Allen found her pitch for two home runs and seven RBIs, and Kellie Peers posted three hits and three RBIs. Dawn McDonald and Jasmine Cote added three hits each.
    “One of the reasons for our success has been the unselfishness of the team members,” said head coach Brent O’Neal after the game. “They are willing to do what it takes to be successful.”
    Coaching staff also continue to be impressed with the example set by the captains and upperclassmen. “We have a nice blend of veteran and young players,” said O’Neal.
    Fort Fairfield’s Maryl Shaw and Emily Weissman led the Tigers with three singles and three RBIs each in the loss. Teammate Sarah Hebert added two singles and one RBI.
    Sprinting round the bases six times in the sixth inning, Fort Fairfield baseball defeated Limestone 9-2 in Saturday’s Class D game.
    Josh Churchill singled for two runs in the key inning, and Ryan Noyes and Beau Everett both singled twice for FFHS.
    Eagle captain Matt Enman led offense with a double and a single with one RBI. Chris Parent and Ty Tracy each singled twice for Limestone.
Limestone ball clubs toppling the competition
    Limestone softball and baseball pulled away from Hodgdon in Class D action last Thursday on the road.
    In softball, Peers captained Eagle offense to win the day, 19-11.
    Peers doubled, singled twice and had three RBIs. Ashlynn Kelley tripled for three runs, and posted a single. Teammate Victoria St. Pierre hit a double and a single while Caitlin Good had an RBI single.
    Eagle pitching kept Hodgdon to only two runs at the baseball field as Limestone took their eighth win of the season, 17-2. Pitchers Matt Beaulieu and Enman allowed only one hit combined. Chris Parent led defense with a double and single. Enman added two singles.
    Limestone softball dominated Wisdom last Wednesday with 11 runs in the first inning alone toward the 33-14 final.
    Eagle Kalli Cote hit four singles and two RBIs while Jasmine Cote posted a triple and two singles. Allen pitched the win allowing only seven hits.
    Limestone softball and baseball controlled the fields at Madawaska on May 13 for two Class D victories, 19-0 in baseball and 12-2 in softball.
    Leading the Eagles offensive onslaught on the baseball diamond was Tom Albert with two doubles and a single for three runs.
    Parent hit a double and single with three RBIs, and Sam Davidson notched two singles and one RBI.
    Eagle Stacey Bernier found the perfect angle for a home run and singled on the softball field. Dawn McDonald hit three doubles for three runs, and St. Pierre added a triple, two singles and two RBIs for Limestone.
