Charlotte Adele Frost, 88, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at a Presque Isle health care facility. She was born May 4, 1920, in Appleton, Maine, the daughter of Ralph and Josie (Mears) Robbins.Image
She spent her growing up years in Appleton, Wells, and South Hope. She graduated from Union High School in 1936 and from Farmington Normal School in 1941.
Charlotte and Carroll Frost were married in June 1942, and she accompanied him to Texas for his Army basic training. After the war they began their Maine life together at the farm on Moody Mountain in Lincolnville.  She spent the next years devotedly raising their 4 children while teaching elementary school in the multigrade classrooms in Hope  and helping run Carroll’s dairy farm, and in later years carefully overseeing the shipping department at Van Baalens in Rockland.
She was a participating member of the Hope Extension Group and was a member of the United Christian Church at Lincolnville Center where she was treasurer and organist for many years. The church was an important part of her life and she loved the dear friends she had there.
After Carroll’s death in 1985 she enjoyed precious hours being with her children and helping out in their work and family lives.
She was at her happiest at home where she was a frugal Yankee second to none.  She will be remembered as a beautiful dignified lady who had the wisdom of humility and lived her life according to the homilies that covered her refrigerator. We will all miss her peaceful presence now that she has been called away.
Ah dear bird, take thy flight– Far above this world into the Endless Light.
Charlotte was very fortunate to spend her last two years with the wonderful staff at the Presque Isle Rehab and Nursing Center.  The family gives great thanks and surely Charlotte sends beams of love to these beautiful people who grew to love her gentle soul.
In addition to her parents and Carroll, she was predeceased by her lifelong best friend and only sibling Esther McFarland in 2004. She is survived by her four children: Elaine Frost and husband Tom Mudry of Goshen, CT, Marjorie Hunter and husband Eric of Fort Fairfield, Randy Frost and wife Noreen Mellor of Thomaston and Ralph Frost and wife Susan (Wyke) Frost of Brookston, IN. She is also survived by six grandchildren, two great-granddaughters, several nieces and nephews, including one special nephew, Roscoe McFarland lll and wife Bette of Camden.
There will be no calling hours or service at this time. A memorial service will be held at a later date this summer in Lincolnville. Donations in her name may be sent to the United Christian Church, P.O.Box 288, Lincolnville Center, ME 04850.
