The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Maine grants the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses. It has fulfilled the dreams and wishes of hundreds of children, including many in Aroostook County. There have been several children from the Houlton area who have been granted wishes over the years.
The Maine chapter of the foundation was started 16 years ago, and to date has given more than 800 children throughout Maine a chance to live their dream. As the ties with Make-A-Wish Foundation are growing stronger in our local community, the organization is planning to hold the fifth Walk-For-Wishes in Houlton. The Walk-For-Wishes has been held at other locations across the state for years, but only recently in Aroostook County.
The Walk-For-Wishes in Houlton will be held on May 29. Registration and check-in begins at 5 p.m. at the Houlton Civic Center. The Walk will kick-off at 6 p.m. and pizza and other refreshments will be provided. Consider becoming a team captain by recruiting family, friends and co-workers to work toward a team goal. Everyone is welcome to join, and any pledge will be welcomed.
The cost to fulfill each child’s wish is approximately $5,500.
Registration forms can be picked up at Aroostook Milling Company or Daniels Florist.
