Despite the cold mornings, I can honestly say spring has sprung! All the signs of spring are slowly showing up. The dairy bar is serving its famous ice cream. The grass is getting greener. The flowers are poking up through the dirt. Everyone is smiling.
But even with all these signs of spring everywhere, we at the shelter can’t help but remember how long the winter was. And, with a long winter, we know always comes kittens. Kitten season is definitely here. We are seeing more and more of them brought in every day, and this is where we are hoping you come in.
I have read the papers and seen the flyers for all these “free” kittens. So, I know this sounds like a better deal than our $60 adoption fee, but as they aren’t as free as they seem.
By the time you give them their shots, have them spayed or neutered and do whatever else is needed such as worm or flea treatments, you have gone over our $60 adoption fee. And when you get them from us everything is done. There’s nothing to do but love them.
So, if you’re looking to adopt, why not call the shelter? I’m sure we have what you’re looking for.
And if you can’t adopt for one reason or another, but want to help us, cat litter is always needed. For $2 at Wal-Mart, you can buy a bag of the Special Kitty. This would help out tremendously. Whatever you feel you can do or donate would be wonderful.
And if, after you read this, you’re thinking about spring, why not join us Saturday at 10 a.m. for our annual walk-a-thon? We will be having it this year at the Grange Hall on Green Street. We are having a day filled with fun which also includes our yard sale and adopt-a-thon. WHOU will be broadcasting live.
So, if you’re trying to plan your weekend, why not come spend some time with us? Come enjoy food, walking with friends and smiles by all. Hope to see you there.
