Tigers face off with Hornets

    FORT FAIRFIELD – After a series of weather-caused postponements the Tigers and Hornets were more than ready to take the field for last Friday’s Class D baseball and softball games.     Despite a final inning series of scoring by Fort Fairfield baseball, Ashland had an overwhelming run advantage and took home the victory, 16-6.
    Tony Baker captained the Hornets with one double, two singles and four RBIs. Lucas Belanger added one RBI single, and Henry Milligan had three runs for Ashland.
    Josh Churchill pushed Tiger offense with two singles and one RBI. Pat Kinsey and Austin Bixler also added one RBI single each.
    On the softball diamond, Hornet offense and defense combined to defeat the Tigers 17-2.
    Senior Hornet Whitney Flint pitched an almost perfect game allowing one hit.
    In offense, Flint notched three singles, three RBIs and scored three runs.
    Maryl Shaw led the Tiger offense with one single.
    FFHS sweeps Madawaska
    Fort Fairfield softball fought for their first win of the ’08 season on Monday doubling the Owls’ score 14-7.
    Tiger Amber Wasson slammed a homer to drive in two runs, and hit three singles. Teammate Emily Weisman swung for four singles.
    Fort Fairfield baseball matched softball overpowering Madawaska’s defense with a 14-3 final. Tiger Jason Hoyt headed offense with a double and single for four runs. Kinsey and Beau Everett added one RBI single apiece.
