Athlete of the week
The Varsity Club and Big Cheese Pizza are pleased to congratulate Gerard Desjardins and Tessa Ward for being selected as athletes of the week for April 14-26. In the track and field meet held in Orono, Desjardins placed first in the triple jump with 39-feet, 4-inches. The jump qualified Desjardins for both the 2008 PVC championship meet and the 2008 state meet.
Ward finished second in the 200 meter dash, and helped the girls’ 4×100 meter relay team to a second-place finish at the same meet at Orono.
ATV safety course
The Star City ATV Club is sponsoring a two day ATV safety course on May 9 and 10 at the Presque Isle Police Department. Hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. on the 9th and 8 a.m. to noon on the 10th. The fee is $5. For more information, call 764-8313 or 488-9605 in the evenings.
MWSC announcements
On Saturday, May 10 Mojo’s in Presque Isle will host spinskis individual time trails on Parsons Road in Presque Isle. The distance is 10 miles. The participating fee is $3. For more information, call 769-9500.
County Physical Therapy is offering yoga classes with Sarah Dominick to limber, tone and strengthen the body. Classes are Tuesdays in Presque Isle at 5:30 p.m., Wednesdays in Caribou at 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. and Thursdays in Madawaska at 5 p.m. Cost is $8 per session for non-CPT members and $5 for members.
