Lockhart, Donald “Harley” W., 89, Westfield; in Presque Isle, May 1, 2008. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.

 

ImagePRESQUE ISLE – Donald “Harley” W. Lockhart, 89, died Thursday, May 1, 2008, at a Mars Hill nursing home. He was born March 28, 1919, in Westfield, the son of Wesley and Bertha (Gee) Lockhart.  
    Harley served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII in the European Theatre. Harley worked for many years at the State farm in the research department where new potatoes were developed. He was a member of the Grant Memorial Methodist Church, and was a person who cared for others being a member of the Presque Isle Search and Rescue.  In years past, Harley also enjoyed being an active member of the Presque Isle CB Club.
    He is survived by a son, Alan Cleaves and his wife, Patty of Presque Isle; a daughter, Sherry Cleaves of West Palm Beach, FL; two step-sons, Duane Cleaves and his wife, Gail of Brooksville, FL and Bill Cleaves of Presque Isle; five step-daughters, Lillian Nibby of Presque Isle, Lillias Nightingale of Raymond, Marlene Cleaves of Brooksville, FL, Diana Farnum and her husband, Bruce of Weld, and Mary Holms of Durham, CT; three sisters, Mary Lockhart and Reta Kinney, both of Westfield, and Thelma Cox of  Florenceville, N.B., Canada;   several grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis; two brothers, Leo and Charlie Lockhart.
    A graveside service was conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Fairmount Cemetery in Presque Isle with Pastor Doug Taubin officiating.
