Central Aroostook announces honor parts for Class of 2008

    MARS HILL, Maine – Central Aroostook Junior-Senior High School of Mars Hill has announced the honor parts for the class of 2008. The valedictorian is Cameron York and the salutatorian is Ashlee Pryor. The first honor essayist is Alexandria Dame and the second honor essayist is Tyson White.

Cameron York is the son of Brent and Kay York of Mars Hill. He has participated in varsity basketball, varsity baseball, volleyball, the National Honor Society, the Trust team, French Club and Varsity Club. York has been recognized for his efforts earning the awards in the following courses: Health, Art, U.S. History, World History, Advanced Algebra II and English. He has also earned the Academic Silver Star, the Academic Gold Star, the Phi Beta Kappa Award and the varsity letter.
York, has also been recognized recently as a six-year honoree, which means he has achieved the honor roll at Central Aroostook for 23 consecutive quarters. He has volunteered at Meals on Wheels, the mentoring program, Wilderness Day Camp and the Mars Hill Recreation Department. He is undecided about his plans for next year, but he has been accepted to Liberty University and Cedarville University.
Ashlee Pryor is the daughter of Joe and Amy Pryor of Bridgewater. She has participated in the Future Farmers of America, the National Honor Society, varsity softball and the French Club. She has held several offices, including junior advisor, report and president of the FFA.
Pryor has been recognized for her efforts earning the biology award, the Advanced English award, the Advanced Algebra II award and an invitation to the academic banquet since the seventh grade. She also earned first place in creed speaking at the Maine State FFA Convention and also won the outstanding FFA member award. Pryor has volunteered with the Bridgewater PTCO as a basketball coach and cheerleading coach. She also helped to organize a bike-a-thon.
Alexandria Dame is the daughter of Stephen and Debra Dame of Mars Hill. She has participated in varsity soccer, basketball and softball. She has also been a part of the French Club, Varsity Club, the yearbook staff and the National Honor Society. Alexandra has been recognized for her achievements earning Student of the Month awards, Coaches award in soccer and softball. She was also recognized for her efforts with the French II award, the French III award and the Advanced Math award. Dame earned All-Aroostook in both soccer and basketball as a senior. Alexandria has volunteered at the Mars Hill Recreation Department with soccer camp throughout her high school years. She plans to attend the Northern Maine Community College to study nursing.
Tyson White is the son of Margaret and Curtis White of Mars Hill. He has participated in many activities at Central Aroostook including varsity basketball, baseball, soccer and volleyball. He also participated in the math team, the French Club, the mentoring program and he is the vice president of the National Honor Society.
White has been recognized for his efforts by earning an Advanced Geometry award, the Academic Silver star and Student of the Month. He has volunteered with the mentoring program tutoring younger children after school. He plans to attend the University of Maine at Presque Isle and major in elementary education.
The class of 2008 will graduate on Friday, June 6, with exercise being held in the Central Aroostook Junior-Senior High School gymnasium at 7 p.m.
