Boone honored for ag work

Image    David W. Boone, formerly of East Hodgdon, was recognized recently for his service to New Jersey agriculture.  David is a 1967 graduate of Hodgdon High School. After graduation from high school he served three years in the United States Army. 
    Boone began a banking career in 1970 when he started working for The National Bank of Northern New York.  He left the bank in 1978 becoming the assistant manager of the Farm Credit Office in Watertown, NY. In his 30-year Farm Credit career, he has held many positions. In 1993, he moved to New Jersey as Chief Credit Officer of Farm Credit of North Central Jersey. That organization merged with three other associations on January 1, 1995 and David became manager of the Flemington, NJ office. In 1998, he was named Senior Vice President and Regional Manger. This spring he was promoted to Executive Vice President.
    Since relocating to New Jersey in 1993, Boone has been very active in NJ agricultural associations, particularly the NJ Ag Society. He has been an avid supporter of the NJ Ag Leadership Development Program, a program that provides members of the agricultural industry with personal and professional training. 
    In 1997, Boone became chair of the Ag Leadership Advisory Committee and in 1998 he became a member of the Society’s Board of Trustees.  Boone was elected as President of the Society in 2002 and served two terms, finishing his tenure in 2006. Under Boone’s leadership, the organization developed a strategic plan which has allowed them to grow in a fiscally sound manner.

    Boone has been involved in many volunteer positions in the past 40 years.  Past president of the Watertown, NY Kiwanis Club and past Lieutenant Governor of the Ontario Division of the New York District Kiwanis.  He was a member of the board and past president of the Jefferson Community College Foundation.  He currently serves as chairman of the Warren County Community College Board of Trustees.
