Local police take on students

PRESQUE ISLE – Criminal Justice students at the University of Maine at Presque Isle will take on members of the area’s police departments during the 3rd Annual Law Enforcement vs. CJ Students Basketball Game.     The competition begins on Friday, Jan. 25 at 7 p.m. in Wieden Gymnasium. For two years running, University students have gone undefeated. This year’s fundraising event for the University’s CJ Club will pit several criminal justice students against local police officers to determine whether this will be the year the police make their comeback, or whether CJ students are just plain unbeatable.
The University’s roster includes Josh Engroff, Brandon Levasseur, and David Rudolph. The police roster includes Larry Fickett from the Presque Isle Police Department and Heidi Johnston of the Fort Fairfield Police Department. Organizers are still looking for more law enforcement players, so anyone interested should contact Dr. Lisa Leduc. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for kids.
