HOULTON — One vehicle was totaled in a Jan. 18 accident on Chandler Street.
According Officer Carolyn Crandall of the Houlton Police Department, the accident happened just before 10 a.m. when 25-year-old Dorinda Ellis of Houlton pulled out from 21 Chandler St. directly into the path of an oncoming truck driven by Christopher Caine, 27, of Houlton. Crandall said the morning’s snowy weather conditions were a factor in the accident.
Ellis, who was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident, was taken to Houlton Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A hospital official confirmed later that afternoon that Ellis had been treated and released.
Ellis’ vehicle wasn’t so lucky. Her truck, a 1999 GMC, was totaled in the accident. Police estimates put damage to Caine’s vehicle, a 1995 Ford truck, between $2,000 and $3,000 in damage.
