Fight night — Two men got into a hot argument at the pool room in the White & Mansur building Tuesday evening and before it was settled, blood flowed.
One man by the name of Finnegan angered the proprietor of the place who grabbed a billiard cue and smashed him over the head. Finnegan carried his disabled head to a physician and had it repaired.
On the silver screen — There was a large crowd present at the Opera House Saturday evening to celebrate the union of the Pastime and Dreamland moving picture enterprises.
The pictures thrown upon the screen were attractive and entertaining.
New machines have been installed and up-to-date vaudeville features will be carried out under the new regime.

Monticello man in Paris — Pfc. Preston H. Mason is a forward on the Shape Indians basketball team at the Supreme Headquarters of the Allied Powers in Europe near Paris.
His undefeated Shape team won an international basketball tournament at Amsterdam, Holland last week where they won over teams from Brazil, Germany, Yugoslavia, a U.S. Air Force team from Holland and the host nation, the Netherlands.
Mason is a military policeman at International Military Headquarters. He is the son of Mrs. Alfreda Mason of Monticello.

Birthday boy — James M. Pierce, assisted by James Ward, vice president of Depositors Company of Aroostook, made the first cut of his birthday cake as he was honored Monday by the employees and directors of the company on his 95th birthday.
For many years, Mr. Pierce was chairman of the board at the bank. He is now honorary chair and regularly attends board meetings.
