The Hodgdon Lady Hawks earned a win last Wednesday night in Fort Fairfield, 48-44.
The Lady Hawks started the game with a 12-4 lead, as Sam Carpenter had eight points, six coming from behind the arc. Hodgdon stayed on top at halftime, 23-14 behind Carpenter, who hit for six points, both 3-pointers.
Starting the second half, Melissa Quint went into an offensive mode, scoring 10 of her 15 points in the third to give the Lady Hawks a 38-26 advantage. But, the Tigers weren’t to be dismissed too early. They outscored Hodgdon, 18-10, in the fourth period, but the Lady Hawks held on for the win.
Carpenter finished with 14 points, while Jillian London and Krystal Estabrook controlled the boards with 12 and 11 rebounds, respectively.
“We are down to nine players due to injuries,” said Hodgdon Coach Olin Quint. “Sophomores [Jillian] London and Chelsea Sloat played key roles helping us to this win.”
Also in the game, senior Taylor Quint had five assists and three steals, while Shannon Martin had four assists and two steals.
“They both controlled the tempo of the game by playing a smart floor game,” Quint added.
