HOULTON — If laughter truly is the best medicine then there were a lot of very healthy people leaving Houlton High School auditorium Nov. 8 after the Health Services Foundation presentation of “Marko: Master Magician and Hypnotist.”

MAGIC — Marko the Magician, center, shows off one of his tricks while two youngsters look on during the recent show sponsored by the Health Services Foundation.
“Marko’s engaging personality and sharp-as-a-tack wit had everyone amazed and laughing at the same time,” said Foundation Director Elizabeth Dulin. “He showed his world-class magic with pure perfection and everyone from little ones, teenagers to adults were eagerly willing to be one of Marko’s magic assistants.”
The audience especially enjoyed Marko’s hypnosis act, continued Dulin.
“The hypnosis part of the show had folks practically rolling in the aisles with laughter. Nothing was done to embarrass the willing participants, but the audience was in hysterics seeing this all played out. Those that missed this event missed an evening of side-splitting delight.  One absolutely needed to see it to believe it.  It truly was a funny, funny, show; and no one was made to look stupid.  From space ship landings, to sports car racing and everything in between the subjects performed their ultimate best to the total delight of their audience,” she said. “Since this was Marko’s first time in Houlton perhaps some folks did not realize how wonderful this was going to be. So take heart everyone, with all the buzz you are probably going to hear around town about this event, the Foundation is already considering bringing Marko back next year and at that time we figure it will be ‘standing room only’ to see him. We are so grateful for everyone that did turn  out because it is our strong community support that allows us to continue giving back so much. Our community gives so much to us and it does so much good – we can only keep repeating a genuine heartfelt ‘thank you’ to all.”
All proceeds from the Marko event support the Foundation’s $1 million Nuclear Medicine Project campaign for Houlton Regional Hospital.  Anyone wishing to learn more about this particular project, the Foundation in general, its programs, or to be a donor, may call 521-2147, or visit our website at www.healthservicesfoundation.org for all the latest happenings and upcoming events.
