New officers and program plans for next year were the agenda items for the Homemakers Extension meeting at the Madawaska Lake cottage of Birdie Peterson in October. Elected as co-presidents were Arlene Plourde and Bonnie Weatherhead. Vice president is Donna Cyr, while Dorothy Tomlinson was elected secretary. Carol Mackay was elected vice secretary and Deleen Johnson was elected as treasurer.
The 15 members and one guest planned several excursions next year, including visits to the wind farm in Mars Hill, the Fort Fairfield Railroad Museum, the Agriculture Museum in Littleton and the Hydro-Blend plant at the Loring Commerce Center.
In other business, the following committees were formed: Card Remembrance, Donna Cyr; Eye Opener, Eloise Anderson; Scrapbook, Dot Tomlinson: Geographic Area, Bonnie Weatherhead; Publicity, Arlene Plourde; and Telephone, Ada Plourde, Monica Soderberg and Marilyn McDougal.
The meeting’s program was presented by Bonnie Weatherhead, who spoke on the benefits of cranberries. She also distributed recipes.
The next meeting will be on Nov. 20 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in New Sweden.
