Image    Presque Isle- Ada M Bishop, 84, died September 28, 2007 at a Presque Isle hospital. Born in Presque Isle on April 14, 1923, the only daughter of Harland and Phyllis (Keirstead) Turner.
    Ada grew up on a farm in Perham and attended the Holts grammar one-room school. She graduated from Presque Isle High School, class of 1940, and was captain of the last Aroostook League Girls Basketball team to represent the school, as the league was disbanded that year. During the war years, she was a civilian employee at Presque Isle Air Base. In 1944, she married Maurice Bishop who predeceased her in 1961. She later worked for 20 years at Northern National Bank and also at Peoples Heritage. Ada was a member of the Grant Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a former 26 year member of the Presque Isle B.P.W. and held the offices of treasurer and secretary, and at one time was a director of the local chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Ada was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed bowling.
    She is survived by a daughter Maureen Beaulieu Wilcox and her husband Gerald of Herman, a son Martin Bishop and his wife Marcy of Orange Park, FL; four grandchildren Bradley Bishop and his wife Lynn, Beth Bishop Rice and her husband Kevin of CT, Aaron Beaulieu of Old Orchard and Adam Beaulieu of Scarborough; two great-grandchildren Jenna and Colin; an aunt Ann Keirstead Smith and her husband Robert; a sister-in-law Francis Briggs Bishop of Houlton and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
    Relatives and friends called at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle from 6 to 8:00 PM Monday. Funeral services were conducted 10:00 AM Tuesday at the Grant Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev David Williams officiating. Interment will be in the Johnson Cemetery.
