THE PARSONS STREET Shell station, owned by the Dead River Company, has been undergoing some upgrades recently. Following the purchase of the Parsons Street property and the Main Street gas station from former owner MPG, Dead River agreed to clean up both sites. Work was completed at the Main Street location last year with the DEP noting only minimal leakage of any kind at that facility.
The DEP has been working with the owner of the properties to ensure any contaminated soil is removed and that all guidelines are met with the cleanup project. Work began at the Parsons Street property earlier this summer, with each day bringing it closer to completion. Since cleanup required the removal of the existing pumps, a separate pump was used to serve customers’ needs.
