Summer has been a lucky time for many individuals playing various games with the Maine Lottery.
Lottery officials announced the winners of several recent promotions, including: Vacationland Cash, Lucky 7’s, Boston Red Sox tickets and the Agent Instant Game.
In the Vacationland Cash promotion, 50 winners have been chosen to receive a $1,000 Vacationland Visa gift card. The promotion, a raffle-style drawing, ran from June 3-16. Players purchasing a single Megabucks or Powerball ticket of $5 or more received a raffle entry in the drawing for an opportunity to win one of the gift cards.
“Maine is a wonderful place to vacation, whether you’re from out-of-state or a Maine resident. Through our radio spots and in-store signage, the Maine Lottery’s Vacationland Cash promoted activities and events from the mountains and lakes, to the seashore,” said Dan Gwadosky, director of the Maine State Lottery. “We hope that winners do choose to spend their Vacationland Cash visiting Maine locations and enjoying themselves here in the state.”
Tickets issued reached the six-digit range, with over 1,000 online lottery agents throughout the state issuing more than 140,000 raffle tickets to players for a chance to win. Winners came from all over Maine. Winners included: Jeff Bouchard, of Hodgdon, who purchased his ticket at the Dead River Convenience Store in Houlton; Wayne P. Luce, of Ashland, who purchased his ticket at Prue’s Exxon in Ashland; and Emma Wells, of Houlton, who purchased her ticket at County Yankee Grocer in Houlton.
With seven being considered a lucky number, there was no shortage of entries for the Lucky 7’s promotion whose drawing was held on what many considered a very lucky day, July 7 (07-07-07). And lucky it was for several individuals.
Participants played for an opportunity to win either win first prize of $1,000 a week for a year, second prize of $500 a week for a year or one of 100 third prizes of $250. One winner was selected for each of the first two prizes, with 100 winners selected to win in the third category.
The promotion ran from June 18-30 and was a raffle-style drawing. Players purchasing a single Powerball, Megabucks, Paycheck, Pick 3 or Pick 4 ticket of $5 or more were entered into the raffle for a chance to win one of the 102 prizes.
“The date 07/07/07 was expected to be a big day for many people with planned events and activities, and it certainly was a lucky day for 102 lottery players,” said Gwadosky. “We were excited to offer a promotion that our players would enjoy and to have an opportunity to tie into a date that many considered to be lucky was a bonus.”
This promotion also saw sales in the six-digit range, with the over 1,000 online lottery agents throughout the state issuing more than 174,000 raffle tickets to players for a chance to win, with winners come from all over Maine.
Winners of $250 included: Ronald Carpenter, of Madawaska, who purchased his ticket at Bob’s Service Center in Madawaska; Rodney A. Dionne, of Fort Kent, who bought his winning ticket at Gas N’Go of Fort Kent; Richard Fletcher, of Presque Isle, who purchased his ticket at Page’s Variety Store of Presque Isle; Emery Labbe, of Fort Kent, who bought his ticket at Paradis Family Supermarket in Fort Kent; Bill London, of Mars Hill, who picked up his ticket at Mars Hill One Stop in Mars Hill; Leo McDermott Jr., of Houlton, who purchased his ticket at Irving Mainway in Houlton; Ada McNeal, of Woodland, who got her ticket at Ouellette’s Variety of Caribou; and Graden Ouellette, of Caribou, who purchased his ticket at Caribou One Stop in Caribou.
