Memorial Day tourney successful once again

The 10th annual Fort Fairfield Athletic Booster Club Memorial Day golf scramble was once again a huge success, according to club president Larry Gardner.
“We had 37 teams and the weather cooperated again this year for our event,” stated Gardner.
This year’s event was held in memory of Larry K. Mahaney, who passed away this past year. Keith and Kevin Mahaney were in attendance along with Governor John Baldacci for special presentations to the Mahaney family and a day of golf.
“All of our sponsors were very generous in sponsoring holes and donating prizes for this fundraiser. We couldn’t do any of this without them. I also want to thank all the people who worked so hard to put this tournament together,” Gardner added. “It takes a real team effort to make this event so successful; without their help, none of this would be possible. A special thanks to all those who helped plan, solicit funds, cook and make this a fun and successful event. The ultimate winners in this event are our student athletes.”
The winning gross men’s team this year was the team of Brian Manter, Shawn Manter, Jeff Manter and Mark Davenport. Low net honors went to Kerby Doughty, Tony Levesque, Ron Kenneson and Dan Ayoob. Longest drive winners were Gene Fraser and Ursula Johnson, while the closest to the pin winners were AJ Clukey and Brooke McCrum.
