The Aroostook Retired Educators Association (AREA) has announced plans for its annual summer luncheon meetings. The group has almost 400 members, making it the largest of any county retired educators associations in the state.
On June 26, Maine’s Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap will speak about his role’s impact on citizens at the Southern Aroostook Agricultural Museum in Littleton.
Nancy Chandler will talk about the proposed Discovery Museum for Children July 31 at Nowland Hall, at UMFK in Fort Kent. There will be a Remembrance Service at that meeting to pay tribute to Association members who passed away during the year.
On August 28 at Limestone’s Job Corp. Center Charlene Thompson will present a talk, “AARP-Divided We Fall.”
The final meeting will be September 25 at the Caribou Inn and Convention Center where speaker Jo-Ellen Kelly will discuss the Literacy Volunteers program.
AREA volunteers throughout the County will be contacting members before these dates for meal reservations.
