PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – April 17 marked Stantec’s first birthday in Presque Isle – and in New England – after purchasing Dufresne-Henry last year.
In honor of the event, staff celebrated with a luncheon at all 12 of the former Dufresne-Henry offices in New England and Florida. To thank the community for its continued support, each office has also made a donation to a local charity. The Portland office donated $250 to Homeless Services of Aroostook.
“It’s been a great year for us and for Stantec,” said Rich Allen, leader of Stantec’s East Coast operations and former CEO of Dufresne-Henry. “We’ve expanded our reach across North America and, while continuing to work with their existing clients, our employees now have opportunities to work on projects throughout the U.S. and Canada.”
Over the year, Stantec has seen many of its practice areas grow in New England, most notably the transportation engineering and planning and landscape architecture groups. Engineers out of the Presque Isle and Portland offices have continued working on projects for such major airports as Boston Logan, Newark and LaGuardia, while Stantec’s planners are currently working on the expansion of Burke Mountain in Vermont as well as on a number of large land development projects in the Southeast.
The two recent acquisitions of Land Use Consultants in Portland and Vollmer Associates in New York City have also added nearly 30 people to Stantec’s New England operations, including 17 in Portland. Since 2003, Stantec has quadrupled its number of offices and staff on the U.S. East Coast.
