Little/Junior Miss PI 2007

    PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – Performing to an overflowing audience, a combination of 23 contestants took to the stage competing for one of two titles – Little Miss Presque Isle 2007 and Junior Miss Presque Isle 2007.

With standing room only in the Presque Isle High School auditorium, 13 young ladies graced the stage for the Little Miss portion, with 10 contestants doing likewise for the Junior Miss segment of the evening event, held May 5.
By the end of the evening, Maddison Cleaves and Kate Campbell were crowned winners in their respective categories. Cleaves took home the crown as Little Miss Presque Isle 2007, with Campbell taking the title for Junior Miss Presque Isle 2007.
The pageant, sponsored by the United Way of Aroostook, was under the direction of Chloe and Amy Shaw. Julie Shaw served as mistress of ceremonies. This year’s festivities followed the theme, “Oh, the Places You’ll Go,” from the children’s book by Dr. Seuss.
Contestant number one in the Little Miss competition was Libbee Mae Currie, the daughter of G. Noel III and Sheila Currie. She performed a vocal medley including the songs, “Catch a Falling Star” and “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.” Currie has named third runner-up for Hospitality, raising $602.
Alaina Leigh Sweetser was the second contestant. The daughter of Aaron and Alisha Sweetser, she performed a jazz dance to “A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes.”
Casey Mae Lovely took the stage next. She is the daughter of Matt and Barb Lovely. She sang a selection entitled “If You’re Happy and You Know It.”
Justine Jacqueline LaBier, daughter of Darren and Anna LaBier, offered a cheerleading dance for her talent. She was named second runner-up for Hospitality, raising $636.
Contestant number five was Emma Rose Willett. The daughter of Timothy and Susan Willett, she performed a vocal selection entitled “We Change the World.” Willett was named the Grand Hospitality winner for raising $1,015.
Savannah Marie Levesque, the daughter of Chris and Christi Levesque, provided a lyrical dance routine to “Only Hope” for her talent presentation.
Miranda Spencer Bragan was contestant number seven. The daughter of Spencer and Tricia Bragan recited a poem entitled “Sick.”
Kelsy Lynn Cyr, the daughter of Arnold and Trisha Sharp and Shawn and Elaina Cyr, performed a vocal selection entitled “God Bless America.”
Contestant number nine was Madison Rae Bearden, daughter of Jeff and Kathy Bearden. She performed a dance to “Nobody’s Perfect.” Bearden was named first runner-up.
Victoria Grace Williamson, daughter of Marla and Theodore Williamson, performed a hula hoop dance to the tune “I’m Walking on Sunshine” for her talent. Williamson took home the first runner-up award for Hospitality, raising $879. She was also the recipient of the second runner-up honor for the evening.
Alexis Lyn Simpson, contestant number 11, performed a monologue entitled “It’s a Doll’s Life.” She is the daughter of Dale and Deanna Simpson.
Maddison Paige Cleaves was contestant number 12. The daughter of Alan and Carli Cleaves, Jr., she performed a dance routine to Napolean Dynamite’s “Dance.” In addition to being named Little Miss Presque Isle 2007, Cleaves was also named Miss Congeniality and received the Talent Award.
Rounding out the Little Miss category was contestant number 13, Kasey Jo Haley. The daughter of Kelly and Tony Gumprecht and Fred and Jessica Haley, she performed a dance/cheering routine to “Hey, Mickey.”
Ten young ladies competed for the title of Junior Miss Presque Isle 2007.
Kicking off the Junior Miss category was Sarah Shea Reed Gorneault. The daughter of Henry and Trudy Gorneault, she performed a lyrical dance to “The Last Rose of Summer.”
Abbie Kathleen LaPointe was contestant number two. She is the daughter of Tricia Pelkey and Toby LaPointe and performed a monologue entitled “An Athlete I Am.”
Contestant number three was Kate Linda Campbell. The daughter of Peter and Tamara Campbell, she performed a vocal selection entitled “I Could’ve Danced All Night” and was later crowned Junior Miss Presque Isle 2007.
Brittany Page, the daughter of Caroline and Donald Page, performed a dance routine to “Dirty Pop.”
Jenice Susan Jarvais, the daughter of Tamie Jarvais and Bob Jarvais, was contestant number five. She selected a vocal performance entitled “There’s A Hero” for her talent presentation.
Sophia Isabelle Grace Willette, the daughter of Mike and Pam Willette, was contestant number six. She performed a vocal selection entitled “Big Time.” Willette was named second runner-up at the end of the competition.
Rilee Elliot-Currie took the stage as contestant number seven. The daughter of Sheila and G. Noel Currie III and Alan Elliot, she performed a dance to “Here Comes the Sun.” Elliot-Currie took home the title of Miss Congeniality and Miss Hospitality for raising $577.
Hannah Elizabeth Patterson, daughter of Ariana Patterson and Derrick Kinney, performed a dance routine to “Footloose.” Patterson was named first runner-up.
Julea Shawna Rice Gorneault, contestant number nine, is the daughter of Henry and Trudy Gorneault. She performed a clogging dance to the tune “Sharp Dressed Man.” Gorneault received the Talent Award.
Rounding out the competition for Junior Miss Presque Isle 2007 was Erica Kaylyn Hemphill, daughter of Eric and Kelly Hemphill. She performed a lyrical dance to “I Love You, Always, Forever.”
This year’s Little and Junior Miss pageants set a milestone, with contestants raising a record amount of money for the United Way. This year’s combined pageant raised just under $8,000 for the non-profit organization.
