Bridgewater pageants
Bridgewater was the place to be on Saturday, May 12, as five young ladies and one teen competed for the titles of Little Miss and Miss. Shelby Hallett was crowned Miss Bridgewater 2007 and Molly Anthony was crowned Little Miss Bridgewater.
Shelby is the daughter of Troy and Gail Hallett and kicked up her heels in a dance routine to “Footloose” as her talent. She is a junior at Central Aroostook High School.
Little Miss contestants included Maranda Anthony, daughter of William and Susan Anthony. She did a wonderful job with her dance routine to music by the Cheetah Girls as her talent. She was named Princess #2.
Molly Anthony did a fantastic job with her dance routine to music by the Cheetah Girls as her talent. She was crowned Little Miss Bridgewater 2007. She is the daughter of William and Susan Anthony.
Michaela Goff amazed everyone with her Tae Kwon Do talents. Named Princess #3, Michaela is the daughter of Erick and Melody Goff.
Sabrina Brewer is the daughter of Mark and Stefanie Brewer. She was cute as could be with her dance routine to “Love in Any Language.” She was named Princess #4.
Halee Rusby is the daughter of Scott and Jill Rusby. She was named Princess #1 and sang “The Fishin’ Song” beautifully as her talent.
Students of the Month
In a continuing effort to recognize outstanding student citizenship, the faculty of Central Aroostook Junior-Senior High School announced that Sarah Brewer and Carl DeLong have been selected as the April Students of the Month. They were selected in recognition of their commitment to the pillar of character, specifically the pillar for the 2006-2007 school year, citizenship.
Sarah is a member of the eighth-grade class and lists English, art, gym and social studies as her favorite subjects. She is a member of the Helping Hands after-school program, as well as the basketball and softball teams. Sarah enjoys school sports, riding her bike and hanging out with friends. In the future, she plans to attend college to become a teacher or a veterinarian. Sarah is the daughter of Russell and Jamie Brewer.
Carl is a member of the sophomore class and lists English, introduction to agriculture and shop as his favorite subjects. He is a member of the FFA and is class vice president. He enjoys hanging out with friends, playing paintball, four-wheeling and farming. In the future, Carl would like to attend college to become a mechanic. He is the son of Paula and the late Steven DeLong.
Senior citizens’ meals
The Central Aroostook High School cafeteria will be a meal site for area senior citizens on Tuesdays, beginning Feb. 27. Senior citizens will be served at 12 noon each Tuesday that school is in session. The cost of the meal will be $3.25, payable at the meal site. Please call Sylvia at 429-8464 by the Monday before each Tuesday to sign up.
Rotary Club
The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on Tuesday morning at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center in Mars Hill. The special speaker was Adam Metzler, the new instrumental music teacher in SAD 42. Originally from New York, Adam has spent many years vacationing on the coast of Maine with his family. He attended UMO, graduating in 2004.
He is excited about the progress he has seen in the students in the short time he has been in Mars Hill.
There are 7 p.m. concerts planned for both the junior/senior high school (on May 29) and elementary school (on May 31). Both concerts will take place at the high school. He hopes to get a Booster Club started at the school.
Bridgewater Historical Association

Bridgewater Community Club
The Bridgewater Community Club will meet on Thursday, May 31, at the home of Terri Brewer in Mars Hill.
The Community Club has been organized to promote friendship among women of all ages and to undertake projects that improve the community. Membership dues are $1 per month, and all interested women are invited to attend. For more information, please contact Pat Lenentine at 429-9444.
Bridgewater Sesquicentennial
The Bridgewater Sesquicentennial Committee will meet on Wednesday, May 16, at 7 p.m. at the Bridgewater Community Building.
The Bridgewater Sesquicentennial Committee is comprised of members of the general public, the BCA Reunion Committee, Bridgewater Historical Association, Bridgewater Fire Department and Bridgewater Recreation Department.
Plans are being developed for a combined celebration in 2008 of Bridgewater’s Sesquicentennial and the next BCA Reunion. Anyone who is interested is invited to attend the meeting.
