And the winner is…

The Kiwanis Dream Vacation winning ticket was drawn March 7 at the club’s lunch meeting and it turns out there will be more than one winner benefiting from the fund-raiser.
“We had a few unsold tickets left just before the drawing so Kirk Carroll (Carroll’s Auto Sales) said he wanted to buy the last ticket because that’s who usually wins. Wouldn’t you know it – Kirk Carroll won the Dream Vacation,” said Susan Watson, club secretary.
However, the Sister Mary O’Donnell Homeless Shelter gave a presentation at the meeting, so Kirk wanted to make a deal (as any great salesman would do) and offered to use the cash-out option on the Dream Vacation and match whatever the Kiwanis Club would donate to the homeless shelter. Kirk missed the meeting a couple weeks ago when we announced the PI Kiwanis Club gave a $1,000 donation so he was a little surprised that his match would be another $1,000 but, of course, he’s sticking to the deal and the shelter is receiving $1,000 from the Dream Vacation drawing.
Others will also benefit because the PI Kiwanis Club raised approximately $2,000 with this fund-raiser and that money will go back to our community in various donations.
“This is another great example of what people in our community can do to help others. Thank you to everyone who supported this fund-raiser,” said Watson.
