Carmichael, Wanda M. LTC, MSN, FNP-C, 58, died March 4, 2007 at Bangor. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.

PRESQUE ISLE and BANGOR – LTC Wanda M. Carmichael, MSN, FNP-C died on March  4, 2007 at age 58 at her Bangor, Maine residence from complications of injuries sustained in a car accident. She was born in Fort Fairfield, March 1, 1949, the daughter of Priscilla Clark of Presque Isle, Maine, and the late Carroll O. Carmichael.
    Besides her mother, she is survived by her sister Carol Harpine of Waterville Valley, NH, her niece Mackenzie S. Harpine of Boston, MA; two step sisters and their husbands, Joy and Ken Corey of PA, Joan and Milton Crouse of Millinocket; three step brothers and their wives, Jay and Lois Clark of Houlton, James and Amy Clark of Presque Isle, and Jon & Kendra Clark of Utah. Also surviving aunts Pearl Carmichael, Joyce Thomas, Gloria Kierstead, and Camilla Cowett all of Presque Isle. Besides her father, she was predeceased by a brother Allen Carmichael and her stepfather, Irvine K. Clark.
    Ms. Carmichael is a graduate of Presque Isle High School, Central Maine School of Nursing, St. Joseph’s College, Massachusetts General Institute of Health Professionals. Nurse Practitioner Carmichael practiced in Maine, California, and Indiana, Japan, Germany, and Guatemala during the past 35 years. Lieutenant Colonel Carmichael served in the U.S. Army National Guard since 1983 in the medical division. Her duties included assignment at Walter Reed Hospital during  Desert Storm. Many decorations and awards were earned throughout her military career. Ms. Carmichael loved serving and taking care of her patients in the hospital and on home visitations, often trading her services for food or socks.
    Funeral services were held at Duncan–Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, Friday, March 9, 2007, at 10:00 am with the Reverends Kevin Kierstead and Dave Williams officiating. A family/friends sharing time  prior to the services was held from 9:00-10:00 AM in the reception area of the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Maine Army National Foundation Fund, c/o Family Program Office, State House Station 33, Augusta, Maine 04333.  A military committal will be held later in the spring.
