Presque Isle – Harold G. Slipp, 87, the only son of Robert R. and Ora (Trafford) Slipp, died February 5, 2007 at the Maine Veterans Home in Caribou.
He was a graduate of Fort Fairfield High School and of Acadia University in Wolfville, N.S. in 1942, and he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force immediately following graduation. He was active in flying and instructing in 4-engine aircraft, and following promotion, Major Slipp was commander of a B-29 crew stationed at Guam Air Force Base. After the war, he returned to Fort Fairfield where he was active in business and community affairs until 1967. He was then employed by S.A.D # 20 as a mathematics teacher at Fort Fairfield High School until retirement. He and his wife (Stew) lived in Florida and Portage Lake, and settled in Presque Isle in 1985.
Harold is survived by his wife Edith Stewart Slipp; one son, Robert and his wife Vica; a granddaughter, Laura; and a grandson Peter.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside memorial service will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Fort Fairfield at a later date.
