BANGOR, Maine — The defending state champion Lady Tiger cheerleaders of Fort Fairfield are back to their winning ways, taking top honors Saturday in the Eastern Maine Class D Regionals at the Bangor Auditorium.

Team members include Josh Barnes, Paige Beaulieu, Keiza Bernaiche, Gabrielle Bowker, Melissa Clark, Simona Cremer, Jennifer Dufour, Janelle Duncan, Katelyn Enman, Mallory Ferrier, Sarah Hebert, Alyssa Kilcollins, Stephanie McIntosh, Ashley McNally, Kellie Osgood, Marcus Spear, Lizzie Tuck, Taylor Turner, Rachel Worcester and manager Mandy Ketch. They are coached and coach Kelly Bubar.
“We were thrilled when we heard our names called out as the Class D Regional Champions! We were very pleased with our performance but didn’t know where we stood. We didn’t have an opportunity this year to compete prior to the Regionals and we did not see the first eight teams perform,” said Bubar.
“We tried very hard to incorporate tumbling and fast-paced music into our routine. The cheerleaders were also very actively involved with choreographing their routine this season including selecting the music. We lost eight members from last year’s State champion squad and had to work very hard to get three stunt groups working. We were very happy to finally have a chance to perform our routine for an audience and to have another county team (Central Aroostook) share the winners circle with us,” Bubar added.
In addition to Fort Fairfield (119.3 points), other Class D state qualifying teams from the East included CAHS (109.5), Bangor Christian (109.1), Machias (93.5), Buckfield (90.1) and Jonesport-Beals (87.9).
