Skiers revel in fresh snow

High school ski teams from around the area were able to get back on the snow last week and took to the trails at Lonesome Pine Trails in Fort Kent. The Caribou boys picked up an 18-34 win over Madawaska while the Fort Kent girls took a 10-37 win over Presque Isle.     Presque Isle took third in the boys’ team standings with 50 points, followed by Fort Fairfield with 66, Fort Kent with 70 and Central Aroostook with 111. Van Buren also placed competitors but didn’t field an entire team.
Individually, Joey Bard of Caribou took the top spot with a time of 17 minutes, one second. He was followed by G.H. Bradgon of Madawaska at 18:08 and Corey Park of Presque Isle at 18:50.

I n the girls’ race Caribou finished third with 41 points and racers for Fort Fairfield also took part though the school did not field a complete team.
Individually, Justine Cyr of Fort Kent took the top individual spot with a time of 20:52 followed by Fort Fairfield’s Hilary McNamee at 21:13 and Fort Kent’s Grace Boutot at 21:17.
